In a statement from Kibbutz Bari, it was expressed deep sorrow and grief for the loss of Ofra Kidar. The kibbutz community also expressed solidarity with her family, embracing her children – Elad, Oren, and Yael, her grandchildren, and all her family members, as they mourn her tragic death.
Ofra Kidar was abducted during a morning walk in the fields outside her home. Despite bravely trying to flee from the terrorists who kidnapped her, she was ultimately overpowered and taken to Gaza. Her husband, Sammy, who was a Parkinson’s patient, was tragically murdered while tied to the couch in their home. Their daughter, Yael, who has special needs, miraculously escaped harm by being locked alone in a room of the house.
Known for her positive and caring nature, Ofra was described by her associates as someone who always found a way to make life easier for those around her. Her presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Ofra Kidar had a love for gardening, swimming in the kibbutz pool, and early morning walks among the orchard trees. Her passion for these simple pleasures will be remembered fondly by the community.
This heartbreaking news comes as it was also announced that several other individuals, including Guy Ilouz, Ofir Sarfati, Mia Goren, Aryeh Zalmanovitz, Ronen Engel, Aviv Atzili, Eliyahu (Churchill) Margalit, and Ofra Kidar, tragically lost their lives. May their memories be blessed.
