The requisitions of the prosecution have been followed. A 15-year-old teenager, the main suspect in the murder of little Rose in the Vosges, was indicted for “murder of a minor under the age of 15” and remanded in custody this Thursday evening. He had been in police custody since Tuesday, arrested shortly after the discovery of the lifeless body of the 5-year-old girl in an apartment in Rambervillers.

During his police custody, “the suspect made use of his right to silence, so we do not know his version of the facts”, indicated the public prosecutor of Épinal, Frédéric Nahon, during a press briefing more early in the day.

The psychiatric expertise carried out as part of the investigation revealed an “altered discernment and a proven dangerousness” of the suspect, according to the prosecutor of Épinal. Since his arrest, “he has not made any delusional remarks”, assured Frédéric Nahon. New expertise will be carried out at the end of police custody. An autopsy of the victim will take place on Friday to determine the causes of the child’s death.

Heavy criminal history

If the suspect’s criminal record is clean, the teenager had already been indicted for “kidnapping, rape and sexual assault committed on a 15-year-old minor” for facts dating back to February 2022, said the prosecutor. He was placed under judicial supervision on March 3, 2022.

At the time, the young man had been implicated for acts of rape committed on two boys 10 and 11 years old, indicated the prosecutor.
