Should we learn math in music to have better results? This is what suggests a study published in June in the journal Educational Studies : after reviewing fifty years of scientific literature on the subject, its author ensures that students progress more when their lessons combine mathematical exercises and musical practice. “These results, which mainly concern arithmetic, show that music has a greater impact in young children and in those who are learning elementary concepts”, notes a press release accompanying the study. Profit “powerful”, according to Ayça Akin, professor at Belek University in Antalya (Turkey), who gathered the results of 55 studies involving children of all ages, from nursery to college.
