Music on the Appia, the Chamber Music Festival arrives in Taranto

MArTA will host the concert “Viola’s Bridge” on September 15th, an unmissable opportunity with violists Gianluca Saggini and Jana Jankovic

The fourth edition of the Chamber Music Festival “Music on the Appian Way”, promoted by Parsifal APS under the artistic direction of Andrea Crastolla, arrives for the first time in TarantoBorn with the intent to encourage the public to reclaim their historical roots, the festival brings musical culture along the ancient Roman road, a centuries-old witness to history and culture.

This year, the edition focuses on the instrumental musicpresenting a crossover programme celebrating the Appian Way’s recent designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It will be the MArTA of Taranto, in partnership with the festival to host the second concert expected for Sunday 15th September at 5pm. Titled “Viola’s Bridge”, the concert will feature violists Gianluca Saggini e Jana Jankovicwho will build a sound bridge from Bach to Bridge, crossing time on the strings of their violas. At the end, the archaeological staff of MarTa will lead the public in a short visit to the Roman roomsin compliance with the museum’s safety regulations.

The festival will open in Brindisi on September 14th, at 8pm, at the Salone della Provincia with “Sur – sounds from the south of the world”, performed by Davide Vendramin on the bandoneon and Orietta Cipriani on the piano.

It will end on September 16th at 8pm at the Norman-Swabian Castle of Mesagne with “Passi a due romantici”, performed by Giulia Sanguinetti on the cello and Federico Pische on the piano.

Admission is freewith reservations recommended on Eventbrite. Access is from Corso Umberto. The festival enjoys the patronage of the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto and the Municipalities of Taranto and Mesagne, in collaboration with various local cultural institutions. Enel has been the main sponsor of the event since its first edition.
