The actor also clarified that it is a common misconception that only singers with formal training can perform well. “Despite having no formal training, Kishore Da and SPB became the greatest singers of all time. Music should come from the heart and touch the heart and Nanjiamma did that with her song. Congratulations once again to Nanjiamma for winning the award for Best Playback Singer at the 68th National Film Awards’, Shweta Menon wrote.

Linulal, a drummer and musician, accused her in a Facebook video that even if she was given a month, Nanjiamma would not be able to learn and sing a song. Linu said that the decision to give the award to Nanjiamma would be an insult to those who see music as life and Ayyappan and Koshy should have given a special jury mention for the song in the film.

Nanchiamma won the National Award for the song ‘Kelakatha Sandanamaram Vega Vega Poothirik…’ from the film Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Nanjiamma won the Special Jury Award at the 2020 State Film Awards.
