On this occasion, the president of the Dr. Abderrrahmane Fennich foundation, Naila Fennich, underlined that the “Music settles in the hospital” project began in 2021 with the inauguration of a music room at the Ibn University Hospital. Sina in Rabat, and has since expanded with the opening of three other music rooms in the same establishment.
“This event marks a first for the Foundation, which is deploying its flagship project on a national scale by opening a music room at the Tangier University Hospital, renowned for its academic and medical excellence,” she said in a statement to the press, highlighting the particularity of this music room, housed within the CHU museum, thus consecrating the cultural side of this hospital establishment.
“The objective of this initiative is to offer children suffering from chronic illnesses who regularly attend hospital a musical experience to alleviate pain and stimulate their artistic creativity,” she said.
For his part, the director of arts at the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, Department of Culture, Hicham Abkari, indicated that the inauguration of a music room at the Mohammed VI University Hospital of Tangier is a initiative full of hope, adopting an artistic and musical approach.
“The ministry supports this cultural project by providing all the means necessary for its development,” he noted.
For his part, the director of the Mohammed VI University Hospital in Tangier, Mohamed Aggouri, welcomed this initiative which constitutes an escape for children suffering from chronic illnesses, and fills the hospital grounds with musical resonances.
“In addition to providing children with a cultural space, this music room will help break the stereotype associating the hospital with suffering,” he noted.
This ceremony, which took place in the presence of key players in this project and hospital staff, was marked by a piano recital performed by the child Ilays Benabdelkrim, beneficiary of the “Music settles in” project. hospital”.
Created in 2018, the Dr. Abderrahmane Fennich foundation aims to perpetuate the artistic legacy and civic spirit of the doctor and musicologist, the late Dr. Abderrahmane Fennich, who devoted his life (February 2, 1944 – October 1, 1989) to promote science, art and culture for all.
