(Reuters) – Twitter has applied temporary read limits to deal with “extreme levels” of data extraction and system manipulation, Elon Musk said on Saturday in a post on the social media platform.

Verified accounts are temporarily limited to reading 6,000 posts per day, Musk said, adding that unverified accounts and new unverified accounts are limited to reading 600 posts per day and 300 posts per day, respectively.

This comes after Twitter announced it will require users to have an account on the social media platform to view the tweets, a move Musk called on Friday a “temporary emergency measure”.

Musk said hundreds of organizations or more were “extremely aggressive” collecting data from Twitter, impacting the user experience.

Musk has previously expressed displeasure with artificial intelligence companies like OpenAI, which owns ChatGPT, for using Twitter data to train their large language models.
