According to a report from the Financial Times, Elon Musk has begun working to increase the power of his Colossus AI supercomputer at startup xAI in order to overtake artificial intelligence competitors such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
As Day.Az reports, this project involves the inclusion of more than 1 million graphics processors in a supercomputer, which is already considered one of the fastest in the world, located in Memphis, Tennessee.
To implement this ambitious project, Musk will receive support from Nvidia, Dell and Supermicro Computer, which will locate their operations in the city. It is estimated that large-scale expansion of computing power will require investments of tens of billions of dollars.
The move by the world’s richest businessman, worth more than $326 billion, comes amid efforts by artificial intelligence companies to secure access to GPUs and data centers to train and run their large language models.
Musk’s project has already attracted approximately $11 billion in investment to create artificial intelligence models and one of the world’s largest supercomputer clusters.
