X, formerly Twitter, plans remove headlines from links to articles and news published on the social network to improve the aesthetics of the ‘feed’, leaving only the main image and the link to the news.

Currently, when sharing an article on Elon Musk’s platform, the publication shows the main image of the news and, just below, the headline with the first lines of the article. In this way, users can find out about the topic covered in said publication and, by clicking on the image or headline, access the news item in question.

Now, the owner of X (Twitter) is testing a new way to share posts with article links, which will no longer show the headline or the beginning of the news, and will only leave the main image and the link to the article.

This has been confirmed by Elon Musk himself in a publication on the social network in which he points out that this new measure has been proposed by himself and that “It will greatly improve aesthetics.« of the main ‘feed’ of the platform.

In this sense, if you want to add context, the news link should be published along with an additional text that will have to be entered manually by the user, as is the case with other publications in which an image without a link is simply added.

This measure was initially shared by the ‘Fortune’ media, which had access to the statements of a source related to the social network. In this framework, as you have explained, only the image of the article will be shown, which will also act as a link to the news item.

The anonymous source has also pointed out that this change pursues the objective of reducing the space occupied by the publications. In this way, users will be able to see more publications on the screen in their main ‘feed’. In addition, another of the reasons why this change is planned to be implemented is to reduce clickbait -headlines designed to attract attention and tempt visitors to click on a link-.
