No new strain of mutated corona has been detected in Tamil Nadu so far. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has said that people need not be afraid and the government is ready to protect the people in the face of any harm.

A consultation meeting was held yesterday (Friday) at the Chief Secretariat regarding the prevention and control of the spread of Corona virus in Tamil Nadu under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K.Stalin. Principal Secretary to Government, Minister of Health and People’s Welfare briefed about the present Corona situation in the meeting.

Recently, the number of corona infections is increasing in countries like America, European countries like Germany, France, Italy and Asian countries like South Korea, Japan and China. Following this, according to a circular issued by the Union Health Secretary, to monitor the number of infected cases, full genetic sequencing tests have been advised for those infected.

At present, the corona infection in Tamil Nadu is XPB type. It is an internal type of PA-2 mutated corona. The currently circulating PF-7 type of coronavirus in some Asian countries is an internal variant of PA-5. Such PA-5 infection has been observed in Tamil Nadu in June, July and August in most cases.

At present, when the corona virus infection has decreased in Tamil Nadu, the bed facilities and medicines required for corona treatment are available in the government hospitals. He said that the testing facilities and oxygen are adequate and if required, the above facilities will be added.

As per the guidelines of the Indian Institute of Medical Research, the medical authorities have been directed to carry out corona testing, full genetic sequencing of infected samples, to monitor the spread of the disease and to monitor influenza-type fever and acute respiratory infections.

As per the standard guidelines for Corona management, especially in public places and indoor areas, if symptoms of infection appear, observe social distance immediately, visit nearby hospitals and get Corona test and treatment as per the advice of doctors. He has directed the concerned department officers to take necessary steps for this.

At international airports, he advised to ensure that any passenger arriving from abroad who has symptoms of coronavirus such as fever, cough and shortness of breath is tested and treated according to standard guidelines. Chief Minister Stalin said that the public should not have any unnecessary fear and the government is ready to protect the people.
