Muzaffarnagar: In view of the Kanwar Yatra in Muzaffarnagar, the police took precautionary action on Monday and closed down non-vegetarian hotels. Along with this, the sale of meat has also been banned near the Kanwar route. During the police survey, information about eight such hotel operators on the highway came to light who were running their hotels and dhabas in the name of Hindu gods and goddesses. But after the new order, all of them displayed the names of the proprietors on their establishments.
About 10 days ago, Yashveer Maharaj, founder of Yoga Sadhna Kendra in Baghra, had alleged that many Muslim hotel operators on the Kanwar route are running their establishments by naming them after Hindu deities. This creates confusion among the devotees coming for the Kanwar Yatra.
Yashvir Maharaj had alleged that in the past, such cases had come to light when meat and fish dishes were seen being prepared at such hotels. He had warned the district administration demanding that such hotels and dhabas be named after their Muslim owners. He had said that if the police administration could not get the names of their Muslim owners written on such hotels and dhabas, then there would be a movement.
After that, on the orders of the SSP, all the hotel operators were instructed to display their names on their establishments. After which a new controversy arose. On Monday, the local police closed all the non-vegetarian hotels located in and around Meenakshi Chowk of the city. It is worth noting that the Kanwar Yatra is starting traditionally on Monday.
Carrying Kavad from Haridwar, crores of Kavad pilgrims will enter the district from the Uttarakhand border and will leave for different states and districts from the district via the 240 km long Kavad track. On August 2, on Shivratri, Jalabhishek will be done in Shiva temples.
Meat and fish will not be sold in the city for 10 days
In view of Shivratri and Kavad Yatra, the sale of meat and fish will be banned on the Kavad track route for the next 10 days. Sale will also be banned at hotels and dhabas on the route. Such hotels and meat-fish shops will be able to open only after Shivratri.
