Lyubomir Ganev was elected a member of the administrative boards of the European Confederation (CEV) and the World Federation (FIVB). The legend of volleyball and president of the BFW attended the congress in Naples, where the Croatian Roko Sikiric was elected as the new president of the CEV. The Serbian Aleksandar Boricic is retiring from the post.
Ganev gave an exclusive interview to the official website of BFVolleyball after returning to our country.
“A huge success. This is a recognition of everything we do with the colleagues from the Management Board. We are showing Europe and the world that Bulgaria is developing volleyball and the results are visible. In the last 40 years, there has not been a Bulgarian on the FIVB administrative board. Personally for This is a great honor for me. I promised all colleagues at the congress that Bulgaria will be more and more active in volleyball initiatives,” commented Ganev.
He also focused on the election of the new president of CEV Roko Sikirich.
“I have known Rocco for a long time and I think he is an extremely ambitious person. Even when his election campaign began, he told me: “Lyubo, we are all here to work for volleyball. You certainly have a place on the administrative board, regardless of who is president”. I thanked him again for his words and I guarantee that as a representative of Bulgaria on the board I will be of benefit to CEV. It is interesting the fact that quite large federations such as Italy, Poland, Turkey and the Netherlands do not have a member for the first time in many years. The date of the first meeting of the board has not yet been decided.
We are yet to elect committee representatives. We have four candidates. Plamena Stoykova has been the secretary of the legal commission until now, and Alexander Vinaliyev is a candidate for the judicial commission. Valentin Pomakov is for the volleyball committee, where all the rules are made. We also proposed Teodor Salparov for the contestants’ commission,” Lyubomir Ganev added.
