A tragic incident of a mother committing suicide along with her eight-year-old son after writing a letter near Ponnamaravathi has caused a tragedy.
Veeranandham-Jayabharathi couple lived in a Housing Board housing area in Ponnamaravathi. They have an 8 year old son Srihari. In this case, Veeranandham has been working in the country for the past 3 years.
In this case, it is said that he did not send money for the family expenses of his wife and son. Heartbroken, Jayabharathi wrote a heartfelt letter and committed suicide with poison along with his son Sri Hari.
The Ponnamaravati police reached the spot after receiving information about this and seized the bodies of both the mother and son who had committed suicide and sent them to Pudukottai Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Subsequently, the Ponnamaravati police seized the letter written by Jayabharathi and registered a case and are investigating.
In a letter written by Jayabharathi who committed suicide after this, “No one is responsible for his decision. I have taken this decision because of my family situation, my health, my stress, not to hand over my body to my father or husband. I don’t want to cost anyone even after death.
My husband has not done anything for us for the last 8 years. He was never a husband or a father to my son. I said to my son you go and stay with your father. But he poisoned me without asking. “Not even a kundusi from this house should go to my husband or my father’s house,” she wrote.
This incident has caused grief in the area.
