“My mother was a singer”

by time news

The 46-year-old actress Penelope Anastasopoulou and her 32-year-old singer coach Ian Stratisparticipating in this year’s 6th cycle Just the 2 of Us, are photographed together and talk to OK! for their explosive coexistence in the show, the personal moments of happiness near the families they have created, but also the decisive role that music and singing have played in their lives since they were children.

Were you one of the girls who stood in front of the mirror and sang?

Penelope: My love for music was not born by chance. My mother was a singer, she worked doing second voices for other singers. I’ve been listening to her sing at home since I was a baby. I remember traveling by car and Bigali singing, Voskopoulos and it impressed me. For me, theater and music go hand in hand.

When did you know you wanted to be an actor?

Penelope: Ever since I was little, I loved making people laugh. As a little girl I gathered cousins, uncles, parents and we made plays. When I was 15, I went to the Art Theater for the first time, I saw Reni Pittakis play Germa and when I heard the applause at the end of the show, I felt like my world was falling apart. I was so taken by it. Then I said “I’m going to be an actor, there’s nothing else”.
