“My song about Lucio Dalla was born from a dream”

by time news

Is titled ‘The infinite man’ the new song by Iskra Menarini dedicated to Lucio Dalla – with whom he shared 26 years of artistic life on the same stage – now on radio and available on streaming and digital download platforms. Written by Menarini, it is a passage from pop sound, with which the Modenese singer-songwriter draws a portrait of the Bolognese singer-songwriter based on the memories accumulated over the years, in which she has joined him as vocalist.

“I stayed there for a year, until one night I dreamed of Lucio – says Iskra – who tells me ‘I left you a bicycle, without pedals, but you will have to put the pedals!’ … I woke up and I thought that Lucio was the infinite man! He did so many things for me that it wasn’t fair to stop without carrying on his music and mine. I discovered that I could write both the lyrics and the melodies, after meeting Lucio Dalla, who was doing the blues “.

Iskra Menarini further explains: “I listened to his every advice a lot, his lyrics and with humility, after he left us to go among the stars, I thought ‘why can’t I try to write?’. I started from that dream of the infinite man and a song was born. In the end, I realized that it was dedicated to Lucio Dalla, in the memory I have of him when I see him along the road, with his dogs “.

The video, directed by Stefano Mazzoni, was shot in Bologna, in the most expensive places lived by Lucio Dalla. Starting from Dalla’s house in via D’Azeglio, Iskra Menarini visits various historical and cultural sites of the city: the Theater of the ‘700, the Villa Aldrovandi Mazzacorati, the Clock Tower of Palazzo d’Accursio, the ancient University Library, the Museum of Palazzo Poggi and the Museo della Specola, seat of the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna.

The video is also enriched with illustrations by Nicolas Belli and the artistic contributions of Attilio Fontana and del dance troupe of the Somnium Ballet Academy of Bologna. The project has as partners the Lucio Dalla foundation, the Municipality of Bologna, Unesco City of Musica.
