Naypyidaw: In Myanmar, four people including a social activist and a former MP have been sentenced to death, which has caused a shock.

Aung San Suu Kyi’s regime has been overthrown and the military is in power in Myanmar. In this situation, after ten years in Myanmar, four people have been hanged by the army.

Among those executed were social activist Koh Jimmy and former Member of Parliament Phyo Jaya Thaw. The death penalty has been strongly criticized by Aung San Suu Kyi’s Democratic Party.

The Myanmar military said the executions were carried out under counter-terrorism measures.

In this situation, there was tension there as the families of the four who were hanged had gathered outside the jail after getting the information.

“I spoke to my son on video on Friday,” said the mother of executed Pheo Jaya Thaw. My son was healthy and happy. He asked me for reading glasses and money for expenses. “I came to jail with that,” he said.

Human rights organizations have strongly condemned the Myanmar military for carrying out executions without informing the families.
