Candidate Na stated this on Facebook that day, “This is not a simple issue that can be passed over by talking about it as if it were a dream.”
He said, “If you follow the rules fairly, it would be a dream, but if you selfishly cheat, it becomes greed,” and pointed out, “This is a debate that involves a very important issue, such as the term of the party leader. Please do not try to brush it off with plausible rhetoric, but give a clear answer to the party members and the people.”
He then criticized Han’s potential run for president, saying, “A one-year party leader is a nightmare for us,” and “One year is not enough to fundamentally reform the party. One year would be even shorter for Han.”
He then criticized, saying, “Another emergency committee, another convention, party members and the public are really fed up,” and “It is shameless to throw away the two-year term as party leader after just one year and pursue only your own ‘dream.’”
He also said, “(Resigning early from the party leadership position to run for president) is selfish politics that throws the party into chaos for one’s own sake,” and asked, “If you become the party leadership, will you resign in September next year to run for president?”
He also wrote, “Don’t just give vague answers like, ‘The future is still unknown, it’s too early to think about next year, how can you answer everything with a yes or no?’ but give precise answers.”
Finally, he added, “If there is no answer, we will have no choice but to accept it as a declaration that we will follow Lee Jae-myung.”
Meanwhile, one candidate met with reporters after a party member meeting in Buk-gu, Pohang the previous day and said, “The more presidential candidates we have who can win, the stronger our party will become,” adding, “I also tell candidate Na to dream a little bigger.”
