The head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina said that food inflation in Russia has reached double-digit levels. She called for price increases to be reduced as soon as possible, as the most vulnerable groups of the population suffer first of all.
“The less income a person has, the more products take up in his personal consumer basket, and this means that inflation hits him in the first place. If we miss inflation now, the least protected groups of the population will suffer, ”said Ms. Nabiullina, speaking at the State Duma. According to her, inflation in Russia was in the region of 4% for not so long, only four years, and now it is twice as high, and food inflation is already “double-digit”.
