In a dream week for Rafael Nadal, the tennis player is already qualified for the semifinals of the ATP 250 in Bastad, Sweden in the doubles category, while in singles he advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating the British Cameron Norrie this Thursday, July 18.
Everything seems to indicate that the greatest winner of Roland Garros has found his best performance just days before the start of the Olympic Games, an event for which Nadal is training to compete in doubles alongside Carlos Alcaraz and in singles where he will seek to end his participation with a flourish.
In Sweden, this preparation comes to an end, and that is why Rafa is pushing himself to the maximum to be ready for Paris 2024. During the match played on this July 18, he defeated Norrie with a double 6-4.
It is worth noting that there were moments of concern on the court due to a fall suffered by the Spaniard while trying to win a point. However, after a few moments, he was able to compose himself and continue in the match.
Meanwhile, together with Norwegian Casper Ruud, they are one match away from the doubles final after defeating Theo Arribage and Román Safiulin. In this category, they will play next Saturday, July 20, against the Brazilian duo of Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos in search of a spot in the final match.
However, on Friday, July 19, Rafael will compete in the singles quarterfinals, where he will seek to qualify among the top four of the tournament against Argentine Mariano Navone. This match will take place starting at 6:00 a.m. (Colombia time).
After Rafa’s participation in this event, the former world number one will travel to Paris to prepare for his final appearance in the Olympic Games.
