From this perspective, many socio-educational projects have emerged in the province of Nador with the aim of better combating school dropout and generalizing access to education, with particular emphasis on the promotion of preschool education.

Thus, the Provincial Committee for Human Development (CPDH) is firmly committed to the implementation of the axes making up the third phase of the INDH (2019-2023), in particular the creation of preschool units in isolated rural areas, particularly in the rural commune of Oulad Settout, and this within the framework of the “Impulsion of the human capital of the rising generations of the INDH” program.

“In terms of supporting preschool in rural areas, the committee has created 139 preschool education units in partnership with the Moroccan Foundation for the Promotion of Preschool Education (FMPS),” Mohamed Ouariachi, head of the Social Action Division (DAS) in the province of Nador, told MAP, noting that this operation, which required the mobilization of an envelope of more than 51 million dirhams (MDH), targeted 1,544 children who are supervised by 141 educators, including 105 female educators in rural areas.

The axis of academic support and school transport are not left out in this social dynamic, he argued, in the sense that several buses have been acquired to facilitate access to education services, as well as the establishment of accommodation structures (Dar Talib and Taliba).

Based on the observation that preschool represents an essential stage in everyone’s school life, the initiative aims to promote a modern and appropriate educational environment for children in rural areas, he said.

The provincial head of the FMPS, Imad Amahrach, highlighted the partnership between the Foundation and the INDH, which aims to generalize quality preschool education for all children and ensure the principle of equal opportunities across the province.

The FMPS has worked to offer educational workshops that support children from rural areas, while developing strategies and an adapted educational vision that can contribute to the children’s openness to their educational environment, explained Amahrach, noting that the educators who supervise these units have undergone the necessary training so that the child receives early education that meets the required standards.

For her part, Hanane Sbai, an educator at the Oulad Settout preschool unit, noted that she benefited from training sessions that allowed her to learn innovative preschool teaching methods and educational tools to facilitate the learning of young children, stating that her mission is to support children and watch over them, as well as prepare them for the primary phase.

All stakeholders are contributing to this colossal effort to fill the gaps recorded in terms of access to education for children, particularly girls.

The CPDH and the FMPS have made the promotion of preschool education a priority, with particular emphasis on rural areas. And the results were not long in coming: a school enrollment rate of over 95% in rural areas.
