If the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is launched, Ukraine’s annual losses will amount to more than UAH 50 billion (about $ 2 billion). This was stated by the head of the company “Naftogaz” Yuri Vitrenko in an interview with Reuters.

“Ukraine will lose about $ 2 billion a year if Nord Stream 2 is launched, which is equivalent to about 1.5% of the country’s GDP,” Vitrenko said.

The head of Naftogaz announced admission to certification of Nord Stream 2

According to the head of Naftogaz, Kiev hopes that the United States will impose new sanctions against the Russian gas pipeline, as it “threatens world security.”

Earlier Vitrenko said that the company was allowed to participate in the certification procedure. According to him, Naftogaz is ready to present arguments as to why Nord Stream 2 cannot be certified “without its full compliance with European energy legislation.”

Under the same conditions, with an advisory voice, Polish gas companies are participating in the certification, which also advocate a ban on the operation of Nord Stream 2.
