Nagercoil/Madurai: An absconding priest has been sacked in connection with the murder case in the Kumari church complex. A protest will be held in Kanyakumari on the 26th under the leadership of Naam Tamilar Party Chief Coordinator Seeman to condemn this murder.

Xavier Kumar (45) hails from Mylot near Tingalchandi in Kanyakumari district. He was an employee of the State Transport Corporation and also served as an administrator of Nam Tamilar Party.

In this case, Xavier Kumar died after being murdered on the 20th in the priest’s house of Michael the Archangel Church there. In this regard, a case was registered against 15 people including DMK secretary Ramesh Babu, priests Robinson and Benito.

Demonstration on Jan 26: In this case, the temple’s vice president, Jestus Roque and Vincent, were arrested the night before yesterday. It has been announced that a protest will be held in front of the Nagercoil Collectorate on the 26th under the leadership of Naam Tamilar Party Coordinator Seeman, demanding the arrest of Pastor Robinson and others.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Anthony Pappusamy of Madurai has ordered the release of Michael the Archangel Church priest Robinson. Besides condemning the murder of Xavier Kumar, the district administration of Kuzhithurai has said that it will provide cooperation to take legal action against the culprits.

Relatives are refusing to buy Xavier Kumar’s body, which is kept at Asaripallam Government Medical College Hospital. They said that they will buy the body only after arresting all the criminals. In this regard, the peace meeting held at the Padmanabhapuram Sir Collector’s office ended in failure.

Court orders: In a petition filed in the Madurai branch of the High Court by Alvin Jose, a resident of Mailodu in Kumari district, “A person is raising an issue that the body of deceased Savior Kumar should be buried in the church premises. His body should be ordered to be buried in the cemetery.”

The petition came up for hearing before Justice Bhavani Subparayan. Then the judge questioned, “If such incidents take place inside the church, how can people pray in peace?”

On the government’s side, “a letter has been issued by the church that the body of the deceased can be buried wherever his family wishes.”

On the side of the petitioner, “There is no cemetery in the Christian Church. If a new body is buried there, there will be fear among the people. The Christian Church has its own public cemetery. Burial can be done freely there.

Then the judge said, “The body of the deceased should be buried in the public cemetery belonging to the church. Police protection should be provided for burial. If anyone raises a problem in violation of this, the district administration and police department can take action. The case is being closed,” they ordered.
