There are only a few days left until the start of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku. From April 19, all attention will be focused on the National Gymnastics Arena, where graces from 42 countries will show their skills. Among the guests of the capital there will be stars of the first magnitude and those athletes who shine on their continents and have already achieved international recognition.

İdman.biz presents interesting names of the Baku World Cup.

Sofia Raffaelli. The Italian’s finest hour came in 2022, when she won five gold medals at the World Championships in Sofia. She won the all-around, won in the finals with the ball, hoop and ribbon, and also took first place in the team. Last season, at the World Cup in Valencia, she collected a set of three silver medals and one bronze, and at the European Championships in Baku she won with the ball and clubs, and also took silver in the all-around.

Daria Varfolomeev. The German representative is a six-time world champion. She won her first world gold two years ago in Sofia, where she became first with clubs. And the very next year, at the licensed World Championships in Valencia, she added five top awards to her collection – in the all-around and in all finals of individual events. She also added silver in the team championship. Varfolomeev also distinguished herself in Baku, when she won with a ribbon at EURO 2023.

Eva Brezalieva. The Bulgarian national team will not bring its main stars – Stiliana Nikolova and Boryana Kalain – to Baku. However, Eva Brezalieva, who has already achieved her first serious successes, will perform here. For example, at last year’s European Championships in Baku, she won a silver award in the ribbon exercise, and also won as part of the team. And at the 2023 World Championships in Valencia, Eva also won gold in the team championship.

Last year in Baku, Brezalieva stood on the podium several times at the World Cup, finishing third in the all-around and hoop, and also taking silver in the ball and ribbon.

Polina Berezina. The five-time absolute champion of Spain made her debut at the adult level in 2015. And she won her first and currently only World Championship award in 2022, when she won team bronze in Sofia. Berezina also has one bronze medal at the World Cup.

Marina Malpica. The Mexican gymnast has a pretty impressive track record. She has eight Pan American Championship medals since 2017. Then Malpica won bronze in the all-around and silver in the team in Daytona Beach. And speaking of victories, two years ago she won the hoop final in Rio, and then tried on gold with the ball at the Pan American Championships in Guadalajara.

Marina also repeatedly distinguished herself at the Central American and Caribbean Games. Last year’s competition in San Salvador brought her five gold medals.

Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva. The Australian grace has been training in Baku for several years and the National Gymnastics Arena has become a second home for her in this sense.

In 2021, Kiroi-Bogatyreva took 33rd place in the World Cup rankings and became the only Australian gymnast to take part in the World Championships in Kitakiyushu, Japan.

Alexandra is a winner of the Commonwealth Games, where she has distinguished herself a total of five times. In 2018 in Gold Coast she won bronze in ball and team, and four years later in Birmingham she won clubs, team silver and all-around bronze.
