Nando De Colo, Nicolas Batum and Rudy Gobert appear in particular in the list for the 2023 World Cup unveiled this Wednesday, June 28 by Vincent Collet, the coach of the Blues. De Colo and Batum had given up on Euro 2022 to spare themselves, a reason which prompted Gobert to hesitate to participate in the 2023 World Cup (August 25-September 10) before confirming his presence. Among the notable absentees, we find Victor Wembanyama, the new tricolor star of the NBA who announced on June 26 that he would not participate in the competition with the Blues, as well as the Franco-Cameroonian pivot Joel Embiid, recently naturalized French but unavailable this summer. Vincent Poirier, the pivot of Real Madrid regularly called up to the France team, was not selected this time. Among the surprises, we note the presence of Sylvain Francisco (Peristeri, Greece) or Yakuba Ouattara, captain of Monaco and recent champion of France. Bronze medalist at the 2019 World Cup in China, the France team will face Canada, Latvia and Lebanon in Group H.
