The world premiere of Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nereth Mayakam in the international competition category at the 27th Kerala International Film Festival today. 67 films, including 9 films in the competition category, will be screened today at the international film festival.
Today is the first screening of the much-awaited Mammootty film ‘Nanpakal Neerath Mayaka’. The screening will be held at Tagore Theater at 3.30 pm. Today’s competing films are Thug of War, a love story set against the backdrop of the last days of British colonialism, Brazilian film Cordially Yours, Manipuri film Our Home, and Kim QB’s death-themed film Memoryland.
As a mark of respect to the late screenwriter John Paul, the film Chamaram will also be screened today. The Indonesian film Satan’s Slaves 2 will also be screened at the midnight screening.
24 films will be screened in the world cinema category, including Emin Alfer’s film Burning Days, a couple’s life-themed Jonas True, A Love Package, Blue Kaftan, Night Siren, Dear Satyajith, Priyanandan’s Dhabari Kyuruvi in Irula language, Pratish Prasad’s Normal, and Raarishji’s Vettapatti. Seven films starting with Ottakaram will be released in the Malayalam category. G. Aravindan’s updated version of Thampi will be screened today with 4G resolution.

Indonesian film Satan’s Slaves 2 Communion will be screened at the midnight screening to speed up the heart beats at midnight. The second installment of Satan’s Slaves, released in 2017, is the first Indonesian film shot in IMAX. Joko Anwar, who is famous for his horror films, is the director of the film. The film will be screened on Nishagandi at 12 pm.
