The unavailability of space suits will not allow landing on the moon in 2024, follows from the report of the office of the inspector general of NASA, reports RIA Novosti.

“NASA’s current timetable is to prepare a flyable xEMU (spacesuit variant – Ed.) By November 2024, but the agency faces major obstacles in meeting this goal. This schedule now includes a delay of about 20 months due to the planned development, verification and testing of the suits … The suits will not be ready for flight until at least April 2025, ”the report says.

According to NASA’s schedule, the first unmanned flight under the Artemis program (“Artemis”, the new US lunar program) is to take place in 2021. The second flight with a crew is planned in 2023, and the third mission, scheduled for 2024, involves a person landing on The moon.

Earlier in February, the acting head of the US Space Agency (NASA) Steve Jurchik said that the landing of American astronauts on the moon in 2024 “no longer looks realistic” due to insufficient funding.
