NASA released images of a plasma eruption into space

by time news

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory released a snapshot of a solar flare that peaked on March 3. NASA classified this event as an X2.1 flare.

Solar flares are powerful bursts of energy. They can interfere with high-frequency radio communications, electrical networks, navigation signals, and pose a danger to spacecraft and astronauts. Class A flares are the weakest, flares of increasing intensity are classified as B-class, C-class, M-class, and finally the most powerful as X-class. The number gives information about the strength of the flash.
