It took me a year and a half to compose the magical music of the sea …

.

ComHave you heard the music of the seal. It’s not a searching sound. This is really music from the ocean. The American Space Agency (NASA) has released this intriguing music to the world. Ryan Vandermeelan, a researcher at NASA’s The Goddard Space Flight Center, and his brother, computer programmer John Vandermeelen, worked behind the scenes. They realized that music was hidden in the currents and movements of the ocean.

Orchestra of the sea

The initial test at Rio de la Plata, a estuary in South America, was successful. This was followed by satellite imagery of the circular motion of the Bering Sea in the Pacific Ocean. In satellite imagery of the ocean, the alignment of colors was seen to change continuously.

They looked at satellite imagery and observed the movement of red, green, and blue channels in the ocean as it flowed. I realized that they were not moving in the same direction and pattern. It was converted into computer data. John Vandermeelan devised a program to convert this data into musical notes and digital music.

The sound of three musical instruments was used for this. The intensity of the color coming from the sea decreases as it moves. The sound fluctuates accordingly. When these were combined, there was heartwarming music. It took a year and a half to create. NASA will release this (oceanographic symphonic experience) on June 8, 2022. Millions of people have listened to the music of the ocean
