NASA warned of the risk of an asteroid colliding with Earth

by time news

NASA warned of the risk of an asteroid colliding with our planet. This, according to calculations, may occur on February 14, 2046. We are talking about the space object 2023 DW, whose diameter is 49 meters.

Given the size, which by space standards does not differ in impressiveness, the alleged impact on the Earth will not lead to the extinction of life on the planet. But still, according to NASA, it may require the evacuation of people from a large area.

At the moment, 2023 DW is the only asteroid seen by scientists that has any chance of colliding with a habitable planet. NASA estimates the probability of risk as 1 in 560. According to calculations, it will fall into the Pacific Ocean or into the territory of Indonesia, Mexico or the United States.
