Time.news – The NASA video to document the mission of the Dart probe: hitting the asteroid Dimorphos in an attempt to divert its orbit. The mission is viewed by the two Webb and Hubble space telescopes and by the microsatellite of the Italian Space Agency (ASI).

NASA’s Dart (Double Asteroid Redirection Test) space probe, lasuccessfully launched on November 24 via a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, was programmed to collide with Dimorphos, the moon orbiting the larger Didymos rock body. The asteroid system does not pose a threat to Earth, Dart has the task of demonstrating our ability to change the orbit of an asteroid, experimenting for the first time with the kinetic impact technique.
