In the days of sharp disagreements between both sides of the political barrier, the question arises of how the tense situation in Israel looks in the eyes of its enemies from the outside. The commentator on Arab affairs Zvi Yehezkali (‘News 13’) talked today (Friday) with Miracles Mashal on 103FM, and brought more details about Israel’s relations with Hamas and Hezbollah in the shadow of the enormous internal conflicts between the parts of Israeli society these days.
“Hezbollah and Hamas are using everything that is happening here in Israel to say that Israeli society is weak, and here is an opening for them to pass through on the way to the dream of erasing Israel,” claimed Yehezkali at the beginning of the conversation. “Here Israel is crumbling. This reminds me of the talks with Arafat after Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon, who said that the internal Israeli debate over the withdrawal is what spurred him on to the intifada. Our enemies see the internal discourse as an opening to continue their desire to wipe out Israel.”
Afterwards, he added: “This is their dream and they are trying in every way to find an opening and an opportunity. I think that the method of finding an opening in Israeli society and entering through it was invented by both Arafat and Ahmed Yassin”, he continued and explained that “they are beginning to see cracks in society More than anything that can affect them – they see an internal disintegration and conclude from that that the atmosphere is quite similar to their own. I think they are wrong in this assessment.”
At the end of his words, Yehezkali emphasized: “I think it is possible that the terrorist organizations are following very closely what is happening in Israel, and will want to take advantage of the opening to strike at it.” According to him, “Iran is currently moving away from an agreement, it is possible that domestic pressures from Iran, in addition to the economic situation in Lebanon, will provoke Nasrallah. It is possible that Nasrallah will recognize the opening in society as an opportunity.”
