Natalia Chueca is already a candidate of the PP for the Mayor of Zaragoza

by time news

The wait is over. The leader of the PP-Aragón and mayor of Zaragoza, Jorge Azcón, has communicated this Monday afternoon to his Minister of Public Services, Natalia Chueca, that he will finally head the municipal list in the capital. The appointment will be made official this Tuesday before the provincial board of directors, in which she will give her first speech as a candidate for Mayor and with which she will confirm a meteoric political career that began only four years ago with the obtaining of her act as councilor.

Along the way, the also Minister of the Presidency, Finance and Internal Regime, as well as municipal spokesperson for the PP, María Navarro, who until the end of last year sounded like her successor, has remained for his greater experience and political journey. Everything indicates that he will leave the Town Hall to accompany Azcón on the regional list and support him in the aspiration to unseat the socialist Javier Lambán from the Presidency of Aragon.

Azcón has kept the leaders of his party in suspense, who this Monday were unaware of the meaning of their decision despite the fact that the national leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, revealed a month ago now that a woman would take over from the mayor in Zaragoza after becoming an autonomous candidate. And in the four weeks that have elapsed since he presented himself as a candidate for the DGA before the regional executive, the internal belief that Natalia Chueca was the one chosen to revalidate the Mayor’s Office grew.

The Councilor for Public Services was in Madrid today attending IESE’s leadership program for public management, which she has attended every 15 days since last autumn, when He was summoned in the afternoon at the Mayor’s office to inform him of the decision. This forced him to return to the middle of the training session. The councilor for the Treasury received the same call, although in her case she spent the whole day meeting with the groups negotiating this year’s budgets.

Its public presentation will be before the provincial board of directors, convened this Monday at first in an “urgent and extraordinary” way for 11:30 a.m. this Tuesday with three points on the agenda: the intervention of the president of the PP-Zaragoza, Ramón Celma, followed by that of the candidate for Mayor and, to close, that of the party’s regional leader. The only name that is not printed on the sheet is that of Natalia Chueca.

The same debut was made in December with the municipal candidates of Huesca, the former Cs militant and executive Lorena Orduna, and of Teruel, where the mayor, Emma Buj, will repeat. It so happens that Buj previously attended the same leadership program that Chueca is attending.

Azcón has delayed the appointment of the Zaragoza candidate with the aim of giving her maximum prominence, without making it coincide with the Christmas break. And with this he complies with Genoa, which has organized this Saturday in Zaragoza the presentation of the twelve regional candidates and, just a week later in Madrid, that of all the aspirants to govern the provincial capitals.

The councilor for Public Services was in the pools since Azcón assumed the presidency of the party a year ago, which historically meant leading the regional list. The difference is that a few months ago in almost all the pools María Navarro was listed as mayor. And now it is pointed out that the mayor of the Treasury could leave with Azcón, since she is aware of the regional management in her stage as number two of Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, advisor to the Presidency in the Rudi Government, three legislatures ago.

Chueca will have the challenge of revalidating the Mayor’s Office as the candidate with the most possibilities and her training and experience in her pre-political stage, she served as head of Marketing and Communication at Imaginarium, will help her to face the municipal career. She will not be completely alien to the task either: when she met Azcón in 2018 in the ESIC higher program in marketing management, she collaborated with him on a final project prepared voluntarily, a specific plan for a candidacy for the City Council of Saragossa.
