With a stomach ache and a certain reservation, I set out for the “Nathan” on the Pernerinsel. After shedding everything I expected from acting, I was finally able to engage with what was on offer. I experienced a fascinating evening of recitation while walking continuously.
I was able to get involved in Lessing’s wonderful dramatic poem without any distracting stage design. This was presented in an extremely understandable manner by actors and actresses dressed in black or grey. The accompanying music and the lighting effects have made the otherwise monotonous events interesting in their own way. Unfortunately, the whole performance was a bit too dark for this positive and enlightening text. On leaving the theater I had the feeling that I had seen and especially heard a performance that will be remembered for a long time.
