The National Agricultural Cooperative Federation announced that it received a presidential commendation at the ‘2024 Korea Volunteer Awards’ awards ceremony held at Hallym University in Chuncheon on the 5th.
the Korea Volunteer Service Award is an award designed to honor the contributions of individuals, organizations, and companies who have consistently volunteered and performed good deeds for those in need around us, or who have engaged in dedicated volunteer work at various disasters and calamity sites.
The National Agricultural Cooperative Federation said, “We have warmly cared for marginalized neighbors and vulnerable groups, helped with recovery at disaster sites, and have extended a helping hand to various parts of the community by helping out in rural areas and donating blood to share life.” He continued, “In particular, as an association established with 100% pure ethnic capital, we were highly evaluated for practicing the spirit of sharing and consideration by returning a certain portion of the profits earned to the local community.”
Kang Ho-dong, Chairman of the national Agricultural Cooperative Federation, said, “Receiving this precious award on Volunteer Day was possible thanks to the warm hearts of our executives and employees who want to work together with the local community.” He added, “Today, corporate social responsibility has become more critically important then ever. “As such,we regard this as an essential obligation,not just a choice.”
He added, “In the future, the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation will further expand various social contribution activities that coexist with local residents while preserving its original identity.”

Kang Ho-dong: Thank you so much! This award is not just a recognition for our efforts but a powerful affirmation of the importance of corporate social responsibility. It reflects the dedication of our executives and employees who are committed to supporting our local communities. We see it as our duty to uplift those who are marginalized and in need.
Editor: It’s splendid to hear how deeply your organization values community engagement. Can you elaborate on some specific initiatives you’ve undertaken to support vulnerable groups and disaster recovery?
Kang Ho-dong: Certainly. We have a range of initiatives aimed at assisting marginalized communities. As an example,we’ve been active in disaster recovery efforts,providing essential supplies and support to affected areas. Additionally, we offer blood donation drives and actively participate in various community service projects. Our goal is to extend a helping hand wherever it’s needed.
Editor: I admire that commitment! You mentioned that the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation is entirely founded on pure ethnic capital. How does this unique aspect influence your approach to community service?
kang Ho-dong: Being established with 100% pure ethnic capital inspires us to emphasize sharing and consideration. We believe that our profits should not only benefit the organization but also flow back into the local communities. Our members are deeply invested in the well-being of their neighbors, which drives us to practice a spirit of generosity and responsibility.
Editor: You’ve highlighted the evolving landscape of corporate social responsibility. In your view, why is it more critical than ever for organizations to engage in volunteer work?
Kang Ho-dong: Today, the challenges facing communities—be it natural disasters, economic disparities, or social issues—are vast. Businesses are not just profit-driven; they hold the potential to be agents of change. engaging in corporate social responsibility is no longer optional; it’s an essential obligation. It builds trust with the community and helps us create a more lasting, equitable society.

Kang Ho-dong: Our commitment to volunteerism will only grow stronger.
