National Anthem in Tamil again: Cabinet accepts Douglas’ request

Minister Douglas Devananda has emphasized that every activity of the government should be done in such a way as to express the pluralism of the country.

In the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by President Ranil Wickremesinghe today (15), the matter was emphasized as soon as the Independence Day preparations were announced.

Also in the discussion, Minister Douglas Devananda pointed out that the National Anthem was also sung in Tamil on Independence Day as an expression of good will of the current President during the so-called good governance government and requested that the practice be followed in the future as well.

The request of the Minister of Fisheries was unanimously accepted by the Cabinet.

Commenting on this, Minister Douglas Devananda pointed out that pluralism, equality, equal rights etc. were only in principle in the past and it was the reason for the country to face various crises and it is noteworthy that in the future all the people living in this country should be aware of the principled decisions.
