JAKARTA – Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat direction National Museum , closed. This is the result of fire which occurred Saturday (16/9/2023) evening.
Monitoring the location, it appeared that Jalan Merdeka Barat was closed using a plastic fence, guarded by a number of police officers and security officers.
Vehicle traffic was diverted to Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan. There was a traffic jam but it was still manageable.
It is known that the National Museum fire occurred at around 20.00 WIB. The burning object was in Building A.
In order to extinguish the fire, 13 fire trucks and 52 personnel from the Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-Department have been deployed to the location.
Police are still looking for the exact cause of the fire. Currently the fire is being handled by officers from the Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-Department.
“It’s still being handled by fire officials. We don’t know the cause yet. We’re currently approaching the location,” said Gambir Police Chief Commissioner Mugia Yarry when confirmed.
Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Isnawa Adji, also said that he did not yet know for sure the cause of the National Museum fire.
“The cause is still being collected, including victims and estimates of losses,” he said.
