Entered the state association team in volleyball

The sports council team was selected and the camp was held in vain

In handball, re-selection was not conducted as suggested by the council

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Olympic Association has submitted the entry list of the state teams to the Indian Olympic Association, rejecting the suggestions of the state sports council for the team selections for the upcoming National Games in Gujarat. KOA submitted the team lists of volleyball, which went to court, and handball, where complaints were raised about the selection, yesterday, the last day.

As they have banned the Kerala Volleyball Association, the Sports Council formed an ad hoc committee to select the team for the National Games and conduct the camp for two weeks. At the same time, the association also announced the team and the issue reached the High Court. After hearing the case, the court issued an order directing the State Olympic Association to send the team. According to this, yesterday, the last day to give entries to the organizers, the Olympic Association gave the entry to the team announced by the Volleyball Association.

Kerala Olympic Association President V. Sunil Kumar told Kerala Kaumudi that as per the Indian Olympic Association’s guidelines, the entry should be given to the team decided by the respective state associations and they have followed that. He also pointed out that Kerala’s participation in the Games may be affected if the IOA acts against the directive.

After giving entry to the Games, the players who have been participating in the sports council’s training camp for two weeks have been in the water. Players who have participated in several championships for Kerala have lost the opportunity to participate in the National Games due to the authority of the association and the council. The volleyball association has announced the team but the camp has not started yet.

At the same time, the entry list was submitted rejecting the Sports Council Secretary’s proposal to reselection and announce a new team in handball. Re-selection was ordered in the context of many complaints regarding the team selection. But on the eve of the last day of entry, the Olympic Association gave the entry to the old team, pointing out that the proposal to conduct a re-selection as per the rules was not practical.
