Today is National Insurance Day. To celebrate the day with due dignity, various programs have been adopted throughout the day. Among them, Essay Competition, Award for playing a significant role in the field of Insurance is noteworthy.
Sources of banks and financial institutions have informed that ‘National Insurance Day’ is being observed every year on March 1 commemorating the father of the nation, Bangabandhu. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate ‘National Insurance Day 2024’ like every year.
10 sub-committees were formed to celebrate National Insurance Day, 2024. Among them, a 12-member sub-committee convened by the Additional Secretary was constituted to honor those selected on the basis of successful settlement of insurance claims from among life and non-life insurers. This committee recommends giving awards to 4 life and 4 non-life insurance companies after verifying the claims data of the private insurance companies with a view to honoring the life and non-life insurers. It has been decided to give crest and certificate of honor to 2 life and 2 non-life insurance companies from among these companies.
In this, National Life Insurance Company Ltd. of the life insurance companies came first and Delta Life Insurance Company Ltd. came second. On the other hand, in the non-life insurance company category, Green Delta Insurance Company Limited came first and Reliance Insurance Company Limited came second.
Apart from this, a competition titled ‘Bangabandhu in Advancement of Insurance Industry’ for Group ‘A’ (Schools/Colleges/Equivalent) and ‘Role of Insurance Industry in Building Smart Bangladesh’ for Group ‘B’ (University/Equivalent) to observe the day from the Department of Financial Institutions of the Ministry of Finance. has been arranged.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman joined the then Alpha Insurance Company of Pakistan on March 1, 1960. To commemorate the day of his joining at the national level, on the recommendation of the Bangladesh Insurance Development and Control Authority on January 15, 2020, the Government of Bangladesh declared March 1 as National Insurance Day every year. The day has been celebrated at the national level since March 1, 2020.
