The sixth round of the National Basketball League closed tonight (Thursday) with two games. Kiryat Ata defeated Maccabi Ramat Gan Bezisman thanks to 29 points by Amin Stevens. Maccabi Ashdod defeated Raanana, who received 31 points from Jason Seagers, thanks to a great third quarter and achieved a second victory this season.
Maccabi Ashdod – Urban ‘Ginat Group’ Raanana 91:98
Both teams came into the game knowing they owed the win in light of the bad season opener. Maccabi Ashdod managed to achieve a second victory thanks to a great third quarter in which it managed to produce a run. Ofer Rahimi’s team enjoyed 11 threes and scored 25 points from the visitors’ loss of the ball. Yossi Bonen’s team is deep at the bottom with a lone win so far, with Jason Seagers being the only one to come to work with 31 points.
A good start by Gal Sternberg and Yarin Einhorn set 13:18 for the visitors after five minutes, but a three by Niv Balul in the opening of the second quarter transferred the advantage to Ashdod. Jason Seagers held his team in the game and ensured a 45:45 tie at the half. In the third quarter, the host ran on the way to 60:75 after 30 minutes, but although Raanana ran 0:12 in the last quarter and even equalized to 90:90, Ashdod recovered and secured the victory towards the end.
Chris Ortiz (26 points) and Yonio Broata (21 points) led the winner, 31 of Sigersed were not enough for the loser in the media, Sternberg also stood out with 14 points of his own.
Maccabi Urban Ramat Gan – Urban Kiryat Ata 81:76
Sharon Avrahami’s team handed out 25 assists and came out on top with an impressive victory, which inflicted on the opponent a third loss in the last four games.
Elijah Hirsch and Uri Trotsky started well, but threes by Ido Davidi and Amit Reuven kept a balanced game in the opening. Amin Stevens helped Giorno increase the lead in the second quarter and Gore Lavie increased to a double-digit lead. At the break, the guest led 34:42. The teams went out for runs one after the other in the third quarter, and precisely when Elijah Hirsch reduced the deficit to 66:60 in the last quarter, Kiryat Ata ran away again. A great three by Dakrai Tucker shrank to just 74:72, three minutes to go, but the host missed a number of chances to equalize and it cost her the game.
Amin Stevens starred with 29 points (12 from 18 from the field), Ido Davidi scored 17 for the winner and Gore Lavie added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Elijah Hirsch led the loser with 17 points and added nine rebounds.
