Kevin Pasche and Lausanne HC had a perfect evening on Thursday against Zurich. Very demanding, the Vaud goalkeeper wanted to react after a performance that was not satisfactory to him.
Undoubtedly, his cries of anger would have been over the top in the Malley ice rink if the Lions’ victory (2-0) had not been properly celebrated by the Lausanne fans at the time of the final whistle. Kevin Pasche held his own in front of his net during the hard-fought final minutes, against Zurich playing 6 to 4.
“In Bern before the international break (7-2 win) and on Tuesday against Geneva (5-0 win) I didn’t want to give an answer this afternoon and the team helped me a lot finally I caught up with the task and that feels good,” said the 21-year-old young goalkeeper, who is experiencing his first season as the number 1 goalkeeper in the National League, in the mixed zone.
Reference game
“It’s the benchmark game that we wanted to start again after the break. Plus against Zurich, it was perfect. Now it’s about showing more consistency,” continued Kevin Pasche.
The LHC goalkeeper did not fail to praise the work of his defense during the tough end of the match which reminded some spectators of the final of the last match, which was lost in seven games against the same Zurich. “Glausi+ (editor: Andrea Glauser) saved two goals for me this evening, I saved a few others. We had good chemistry, but we know we won’t have it every night. We have to work on that,” explained the Lausanne goalkeeper, who keeps the goal set by his coach Geoff Ward in his sights.
“beautiful show”
“The period until December will be tough and important. With only one point ahead of Zurich (who played two games less) and two ahead of Davos, Kevin Pasche realizes that this first place is not the most valuable.
“This leading status is a matter of satisfaction, but we know that a win in Zug on Friday could take us up two or three places,” he said. “It’s very close this year and it’s great for the fans. It’s a lot more pressure on us too, but it produces a great show.” Hard to argue with him.
What specific training techniques does Kevin Pasche use to improve his decision-making as a goalkeeper?
Time.news Interview: Kevin Pasche’s Stellar Performance and Passion for the Game
Editor: Good evening, everyone! Welcome to another edition of Time.news. Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with Kevin Pasche, the standout goalkeeper from Lausanne HC, following his impressive performance against Zurich. Kevin, thank you for joining us!
Kevin Pasche: Thanks for having me! It’s great to be here.
Editor: Let’s dive right in. You had what many would call a “perfect” evening on Thursday, securing a 2-0 victory against Zurich. Can you walk us through that match, especially facing the intense final moments with Zurich on a power play?
Kevin Pasche: Absolutely. The atmosphere was electric, especially with our fans behind us. In those final minutes, when we were down to four players, I just focused on doing my job and keeping the puck out of the net. It was all about staying calm and trusting my instincts.
Editor: You’ve mentioned in previous interviews that you’re a very demanding player, particularly of yourself. After a less-than-satisfactory performance in the past, how did you channel that frustration into motivation for this game?
Kevin Pasche: That’s a big part of my mentality. After a disappointing outing, I had to rebound and prove that I could perform at my best. I always approach every game as a new opportunity, but especially after a performance that didn’t meet my standards, I push myself even harder. It was important for me to react positively on the ice.
Editor: That sense of pressure can be immense—how do you manage that? Your calls for focus and intensity during the game were palpable.
Kevin Pasche: It’s a balancing act. On one hand, there’s the pressure to perform, and on the other, I have the support of my team and our fans. I channel that energy into my performance. My outbursts are just a part of my passion for the game. I want to ensure everyone is on the same page, especially during those critical moments.
Editor: Speaking of support, how important is the fan base at the Malley ice rink for you and the team as a whole?
Kevin Pasche: They are crucial! The fans create an incredible environment, and it fuels my performance. When they erupted at the final whistle, it was a reminder of why we play. Their support gives us that extra push, particularly during tough matches. You could feel the energy all around.
Editor: You had a strong start to the season, with notable victories against Bern and Geneva prior to the Zurich match. What aspects of your game do you think have improved the most over this stretch?
Kevin Pasche: I think my decision-making and positioning have improved significantly. I’ve been working closely with the coaching staff to refine those areas. Each game teaches me something new, particularly how to read the game better and anticipate the opponent’s moves.
Editor: Looking ahead, what are your personal goals for the remainder of the season, and how do you envision contributing to the team’s success?
Kevin Pasche: My main goal is consistency. If I can maintain this level of performance, I believe I can help the team secure more victories. I also want to continue building trust with my teammates, so they know they can rely on me behind them. Ultimately, my focus is on winning games and hopefully competing for a championship.
Editor: Well, Kevin, it sounds like you have a clear vision for your season. Thank you for sharing these insights. We’re excited to see how you continue to evolve and lead Lausanne HC!
Kevin Pasche: Thank you! I appreciate the support, and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead this season.
