The ZSC Lions are celebrating after Derek Grant’s goal won 4-3.

The ZSC Lions won Sunday’s only match in the National League against SC Bern 4-3 after extra time. Derek Grant scored the game-winning goal for the hosts after 3:30 minutes of overtime. This means the league leaders remain unbeaten in the Swiss Life Arena at home this season. Robin Zumbühl, who defended the goal in place of the sick Simon Hrubec, made 40 saves.

The Zurich team had previously lost a final 3-0 against the guests from Bern. Yannick Weber, Sven Andrighetto and Chris Baltisberger scored in the power play until the 34th minute. But Waltteri Merelä and Yanick Sablatnig brought the “Mutzen” closer again in the 46th minute.

Berner Baisse in Overtime

In the end, the Bernese were not rewarded for coming up. This meant that Zurich also dropped the second classic of the season – in the first meeting, beat ZSC Bern 3-2 after a penalty shootout. The ZSC have now won 6 out of 7 games after overtime, and the Bernese are still waiting for an extra point through extra time or a penalty after the 7th attempt.
