A rousing welcome was given to the athlete at the bus station after returning home after winning gold and silver medals in the national level athletics competition held in Assam’s Guwahati.
The 37th National Junior Athletics Championships were held from 11th to 15th at Guwahati, Assam. Players from states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Assam participated in this competition and showcased their skills.
Jithin, son of Chandrasekhar-Sukanya couple, who is a resident of Seelappadi village, Dindigul district, participated in this event from Dindigul district and won first in the heptathlon event. He also finished second in the long jump event.
Subsequently, he was awarded a gold medal along with a prize money of Rs 2 lakh for winning the heptathlon competition and a silver medal of Rs 1.5 lakh for finishing second in the long jump competition.
Following this, athlete Jithin, who returned to Dindigul, was enthusiastically welcomed at the Dindigul bus station by fellow players, players, members of Pattumani Veterans Football Club and relatives by garlanding and giving flowers.
