National Lok Adalat in Namakkal Court: Rs 18.92 crore awarded in 2,382 cases

Namakkal: The National Level People’s Court was held at the Namakkal District Integrated Court Complex. District Chief Justice Gunasekara presided. Various cases were taken up for hearing, including accidents, checks, family welfare, alimony, labor welfare, electricity usage, house tax and other general use. In addition to the pending cases, cases and issues that are eligible to be filed anew were settled through conciliation. In particular, Narayanasamy, 39, of Mohanur Muthuraja Street, Namakkal district, was killed in a road accident along with his wife, Revathi. After the insurance company paid him Rs 30 lakh, a settlement was reached in the case. Advocates Ganapathy, Thangamuthu and others were present. ‘As far as the people’s court is concerned there is no difference between the winner and the loser. The verdict here cannot be appealed, the judges said. Arrangements were made by Vijayakarthik, Secretary, District Legal Services Commission. Similarly, the People’s Court was held at Tiruchengode, Rasipuram and Paramathi Courts. A total of 4,337 cases were taken up for hearing across the district. Of these, 2,382 cases were settled. 18 crore, 92 lakh, 8,986 rupees were paid to the victims in these cases and the cases were settled.
