National Oral and Dental Health Campaign Continues Until End of Month

The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation and Primary Health Care, has launched a national oral and dental health campaign that will run until the end of this month.
The main objective of the campaign is to raise awareness among all members of society, including children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, about the importance of oral and dental health. The campaign aims to promote the concept of “a healthy mouth in a healthy body” and encourage individuals to change negative habits that can negatively impact their oral and dental health, such as smoking and consuming sugary foods and drinks.
One of the key focuses of the campaign is to encourage individuals to adopt a healthy diet and reduce the consumption of sugar in their food and drinks. This initiative aims to combat the high rate of cavities found in children, which reached a concerning 85% in the 2017 national survey for the age group between 4 and 8 years. By promoting healthy eating habits, the campaign hopes to significantly reduce the prevalence of cavities in children.
Furthermore, the campaign aims to emphasize the importance of daily oral care at home and enhance communication between children, dental services, and prevention departments in various medical institutions. By promoting regular oral care practices and strengthening the relationship between children and dental professionals, the campaign seeks to instill good oral hygiene habits from an early age.
This national campaign on oral and dental health is a result of the efforts of the National Committee for Oral and Dental Health. As part of the campaign, educational awareness publications regarding oral and dental health will be published on the Ministry of Public Health’s social media platforms and the social platforms of health sector partners. Additionally, display screens showcasing educational information will be placed at the public entrances of government and private hospitals and health centers.
To further educate the younger generation on the importance of oral and dental health, specialized doctors from the Primary Health Care Corporation will conduct educational awareness lectures in a number of public and private primary, middle, and secondary schools.
