This Red Star – Nîmes, offbeat poster for the 14th day of National – the club has obtained authorization from the FFF – will be historic. A page will indeed be turned for supporters and lovers of the club. Especially the old ones, who have been coming to Bauer for years. A little less perhaps for the newbies, attracted by a certain “hype”… This Saturday, December 2, 2023, the Red Star will indeed play its last match in front of its historic stand, the “West” built in 1922, there is so 101 years old.

With its bricks, its beams and its structures which support the roof but somewhat obstruct visibility, this stand called Rino Della Negra, in homage to an anti-fascist player, shot by the Nazis at Mont Valérien in 1944, gave this stadium a charm incomparable. Emotion and nostalgia should therefore be there in heads and hearts, at 9:20 p.m. when the match against Nîmes ends.

In the coming weeks, the stand will be demolished and then rebuilt, like the East Stand before it. This is where spectators will sit from the next match at Bauer, January 12, 2024 against Orléans. The work carried out by the Réalité group should be completed in 2025. The new Bauer will have a capacity of 10,000 seats and will be approved for Ligue 2.

Kop procession from the town hall before the match

For this match to punctuate “an anthology day”, the Kop Rino Della Negra will meet the supporters at 4:30 p.m. in front of the Saint-Ouen town hall for a procession departure to the stadium at 5:30 p.m. The Red Star club has decided to invite many alumni.

For the party to be complete, Habib Beye’s team will have to rise to the occasion and continue its flawless performance at Bauer (6 wins in 6 matches so far) against a Nîmes team that is adrift , both on the field and behind the scenes.

The Red Star, still National leader, remains eliminated in the Coupe de France in Châteauroux (2-1) and a defeat, after 11 games of invincibility in Dijon (3-1) last Friday. The two pursuers from Red Star, Martigues (3rd) and Niort (2nd) face each other on Monday.

For its part, Versailles saw its match postponed in Orléans after a municipal decree. The year 2023 will end with a derby between Versailles and Red Star, on Monday December 18 at the Jean-Bouin stadium in Paris (9 p.m.).
