In light of the restrictive measures put in place to stem the spread of the new coronavirus, national coach Sofiane Dakir has set up a home coaching program comprising four individual training sessions per week, each lasting one hour, the aim being to maintain physical fitness and raise the level of preparation of the players for the next continental events, Bourkane stressed in a statement to MAP.

The technical management divided the players of the selection into several groups composed of six to eight players, to ensure that everyone benefits from this training, he explained.

The player recalled that the national team had started its preparation courses before last March with a view to its participation in several continental and international competitions, ultimately postponed or cancelled due to the pandemic, in particular the African Championship of the category, which was scheduled for next June.

On the other hand, Bourkane stressed that the Moroccan Association for Short People, with the support of many former and current players, has launched, as part of efforts to mitigate the economic effects of this pandemic, a solidarity campaign for the benefit of the families of many short people who are members of the association.

The national football team for short people has been officially invited by FIFA to participate in the first edition of the World Cup, which will be held in Argentina in April 2021 and which will see the participation of around thirty teams from around the world.

It should be remembered that the national team was the guest of honor at the first edition of the Copa America for this category, held in Buenos Aires (October 24-29, 2018), finishing in an honorable 6th position.
