Puducherry: In the South Indian National Senior Basketball Tournament, the Tamil Nadu team topped the men’s category and the Kerala team won the champion title in the women’s category. These matches started on 13th at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Uppalam, Puducherry. Men’s and women’s teams from the states of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana participated in the competition.
The final was held yesterday. In the men’s category, Tamil Nadu-Kerala teams clashed. The Tamil Nadu team won the match with a score of 83-67. Through this, the Tamil Nadu team won the title of champion in all the 5 league matches held. Second place was taken by Kerala and 3rd place by Telangana team.In women’s category, Kerala team won the champion title. 2nd position was taken by Tamil Nadu and 3rd position by Karnataka. Puducherry Home Minister Namachivayam felicitated the winning teams. The top three teams in this competition will qualify for the national level basketball tournament in Udaipur in November.
