The CBI has arrested Anand Subramaniam, a former executive director of the National Stock Exchange.
Anand Subramaniam was the advisor to Chitra Ramakrishna, the former managing director of the National Stock Exchange, and the executive director of the market. Chitra Ramakrishna, who was the Managing Director of the National Stock Exchange until 2016, is said to have appointed Anand Subramaniam to the top post amid controversy over his decision to consult an Himalayan yogi.
It is said that Anand Subramaniam pressured Chitra Ramakrishna to take important market decisions from then on. In this context, the CBI is investigating a case related to malpractice in the National Stock Exchange. In this connection, CBI officials recently conducted raids at places related to Anand Subramaniam in Chennai. Following this, it has been reported that Anand Subramaniam was arrested by the CBI in Chennai last night.
