The National Wrestling Federation’s new management committee has announced that they will not immediately approach the court over the suspension of the new governing body. The decision comes as the new president, Sanjay Singh, plans to meet with the Prime Minister and the Sports Minister to discuss the situation. The committee has stated that they will only consider approaching the court if the ban is not lifted.

The sports ministry has stated that an adhoc committee will be appointed soon. The committee, headed by Sanjay Singh, was elected on the 21st of this month and is comprised of 13 out of 15 members who are followers of former president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The ongoing control of Brij Bhushan in the federation, amid allegations of sexual assault, has led to prominent athletes like actor Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia taking protest measures.

The central government’s decision to take action against the federation comes after warnings that more stars will take the protest route. The ministry cited violations as the reason for the action, particularly in relation to the National Under-15 and Under-20 Wrestling Championships being held in Brij Bhushan’s hometown of Gonda Nandini Nagar in UP, without enough time given to the players. Additionally, the executive committee was not informed about this decision, and the federation continues to operate from Brij Bhushan’s official residence.

In response to the situation, Sanjay Singh has stated that he will explain the committee’s position to the government and is set to meet with key officials to address the ongoing controversy.
