NATO reaffirms support for kyiv after Russian attacks

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) reiterated its support for Ukraine, after a series of intense Russian bombings which hit the country’s energy infrastructure earlier this week. The organization held a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council to assess the situation following the attacks that severely affected the electricity supply in several Ukrainian cities.

In its statement, the Atlantic Alliance condemned the Russian attacks and promised to strengthen the defensive capabilities of Ukraine. Jens Stoltenbergsecretary general of the organization, stressed that although Ukraine is intercepting missiles On a daily basis, increasing the supply of equipment and ammunition is crucial to maintaining this capability.

For his part, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, He called on European air forces to help them better intercept Russian drones and missiles, stressing that cooperation with F-16 fighters and Ukrainian air defence could save many lives.

The recent airstrikes, which hit 15 regions with 236 missiles and drones, caused at least four deaths and power outages in kyiv. Ukrainian authorities claimed to have shot down 201 of the projectiles launched.
